Finding Enough
Part 1
This might shock a few of you, including my family.
Someone recently asked me how I got into health/holistic health. When I was in high school I was insecure. So much so that I became bulimic and anorexic. On top of that I was working out 3+ hours a day, taking diet pills, AP classes, working multiple jobs…
I was not in a healthy place. I thought that if I lost weight, I would be healthy.
I passed out in swim practice- twice.
I ended up having to stop swimming because my body could not keep up with it anymore. (Understand that this was HUGE for me at the time, as swimming had been my life since I was 12 years old. I was captain of the swim team and had multiple colleges interested).
When my mom found out she started taking me to Children’s Hospital twice a week to see a doctor, nutritionist, and therapist.
That was when I started to understand health. When I began to understand nutrition, mental health, and balance.
It took a lot for me to get there, but I did in fact learn and come out better on the other side.
Wherever you are at now is a place you can learn from. Are you finding balance in your life? Is there pain you can let go of, mentally or physically? How is your mental health? What would help you, right now, to find balance within your life?
