Rantings of a Fall Daze
There is something about the changing of seasons that sparks the soul, that guides my gaze to the color-changing leaves and my pen to paper. To see the peaks in a blanket of white, contrasting the endless blue sky above and the vast shades of gold from the trees below sets me in a daze. What was only a few days ago vibrant green against the blue-gray rock, has now transformed to its next stage. It does not fight the change, it works with it, in an effortless way that only nature seems to understand. So with my pen to the page, the ink flows…
I think we often look back at times in our lives and realize how much we missed at that moment, purely by not being in the actual moment. We get in our own heads too much and imagine that things could have ever gone differently than they did. Maybe in another universe, but in this one, it all happened a certain way, that certain way, and if it happened-then it was inevitable.
Life is challenging. It is supposed to be. If it was always easy, how would we learn those hard but meaningful lessons? We can use these challenges for the betterment of ourselves, maybe even for more than ourselves. And seeing those challenges as such, as opportunities, can be a test in itself.
There comes a point when you may try to look at things from another’s perspective, a bigger picture. And while that is encouraged, to try and expand the mindset from simply our own limited point of view, I believe it should also be understood that this can only be slightly achieved. Because, you will eventually also notice that you are inevitably and irrevocably you. For this whole life, from your first breath to this breath, until your very last, you are you. That might sound silly, yet it is the truest of truths. And because of this, you will always see things through your eyes; your perspective will always have an influence. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something worth knowing, worth understanding and worth discovering for yourself. I urge you to test this for yourself, to try and understand you on a deeper level, your model of the world, even more. To challenge it as it challenges you. To expand your understanding of “you” and embrace it. Embrace yourself, and from only there can we begin to embrace the World.
It can all change today. Simply by choosing for it too.
By choosing to not buy into your old story, by realizing it can (and will) be different. By choosing to let go of all the lies we tell ourselves. We are not lost. We are beautiful and inspiring now. Let go of the things that no longer serve you. Let go of them, now. There is no better time than the present. They are not a part of your story anymore. You are creating exactly who you want to be and the life you want to live. Right now, right here, it is yours.
We often feel lost. But it hit me today- what a blessing, what a time to be at in life. To have so many roads open to us, all of these possibilities. As you may look back on your life with a fond smile and a small shake of the head as to how you have lived thus far and the understanding that you have now, that understanding you have gained through those years, just imagine what your future self will think about as you look back to this time that you are currently in. Probably a similar smile, as you see yourself scrambling to find your journey, your story. It is easy to see it the wrong way, almost as if through mud, fighting the flow, as it washes the mud away and clears the stream. We have grown so used to the fight that it seems hard to let go, but that is where the magic happens. Not that it is an easy path ahead, there are many more lessons to be learned, but to take them in stride and realize that they are serving a purpose in your story.
So, come back to the breath, come back to the moment and realize that even though you may feel alone, or one in a crowd, maybe even just wondering- you are not truly lost. You are here now, and that can be more than enough.
Like nature, we should learn to be a part of the flow, as we are all in it together, much like the leaves in the trees as they change and fall. There is no need or point in fighting the natural path that lies ahead but embrace the beauty in the journey, in your journey, and maybe catch a glimpse of the magic around you.
